Challenging Lies’ is a book arguing that Africa’s plight is external in origin—the result of the imperialism of Western countries whose survival depends on the systematic plundering of Africa. Massocki so powerfully argues that western imperialism and neocolonialism are the very forces at the root of Africa’s political, economic, security and health crises and the dangers hovering over humanity. Massocki writes: ‘The African’s misfortune began when the first White imperialist set foot in Africa. That day must be cursed.’

REVIEWS

“Challenging Lies” is an eye-opener on the origin of the plight of Africa. A well-researched and brilliant expository presentation of all forms of imperialism on the black continent. Massocki left no stone unturned. If there were one book to read on Western imperialism in Africa, it would be this one. This book is set to become a classic in black revolutionary literature against white supremacy’.

                                   PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Pierced Rock Press is a Pan-African publishing house dedicated to promoting African literature that fights against imperialism and neocolonialism, advancing African people’s rights worldwide, elevating Black consciousness and providing counter-propagandist narratives against the misrepresentation of Africa. It is within this perspective that the publisher has decided to publish this book.

The date 16 September 2023 marks a historic moment in Africa’s struggle against imperialism and neocolonialism. On this pivotal date, three African states in the Sahel region of West Africa—Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger—led respectively by revolutionaries and Pan-African leaders Captain Ibrahim Traoré, General Assimi Goïta and General Abdourahamane Tchiani, united their nations under the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). As this book argues, the AES stands as a formidable organisation committed to fighting imperialism and neocolonialism, the very forces at the root of Africa’s political, economic, security and health crises.

The AES has ignited hope across the continent, which has endured oppression in its most barbaric and indescribable forms at the hands of imperialist forces. The leaders of the AES are among the most celebrated figures in Africa today, with their influence reaching far beyond the continent. Captain Ibrahim Traoré, one of the leaders of the AES, is regarded by many as the reincarnation of Captain Thomas Sankara, indisputably the greatest African leader in the post-colonial era.

The AES is evidently seen as the true alternative to the African Union (AU). The AU, a continental union of 55 member states, was supposed to unite and protect the continent against imperialism and neocolonialism. However, the AU has not only surrendered Africa to the imperialist forces but also played an active role in the joint venture of Africa’s recolonisation, as also argued in this book.

Given that the publisher, the message conveyed in this book and the AES share a common struggle, Pierced Rock Press has decided to set the publication date of this book on 16 September 2025. This date will mark the second anniversary of the AES, serving as a testament to its unwavering solidarity with the Pan-African struggle led by the AES.

However, months prior to the publication’s date, advance copies of this book will be distributed to journalists, book reviewers, news agencies, government officials, universities, bookstores and libraries as part of the promotional campaign.

The publisher hereby calls all anti-imperialists, anti-colonialists, social activists, revolutionaries, any movement or organisation that stands for justice and peace, book lovers in general and the media to stand with us in celebrating the launch of this book on the historic date of 16 September 2025. Together, let us say NO to imperialism and neocolonialism, which are the dangers hovering over humanity, as this book so powerfully argues.

The venue of the book launch will be announced at a later date on Pierced Rock Press’s website. We strongly encourage you to subscribe to the publisher’s website for the latest news and announcements to stay updated.
